Description:
Hiking the "Y" is a long-time tradition for BYU students, alumni, and locals. Y Mount is a short 1.75 mile hike, with the the trail using 12 switchbacks to make 1,100' elevation gain uphill hike a little easier. There are many places to stop and take a rest as you make your way up the mountain; atop the Y you'll catch stunning views of BYU campus and Utah valley.
Route:
Getting to the "Y":
From 900 E in Provo, turn east (toward the mountains) on 820 North. Take a right on Oak Cliff Drive and veer right. Take a right on Terrace Drive and a left to head into the "Y" Trailhead parking lot.
The trail is clearly marked through the gate.
